New day new Roomies

Friday i got new roomies again, this time three Norwegian girls.
i got home from work, they seem cool and all settled, they told me they are going to the James cook university, in an international class where they are going to study marine biology, so we had a few things in common. They think it is really cool that i work with animals in the billabong, they told me that they will have a class tour to the sanctuary within the next couple of weeks, so maybe we will see each other again?

They told me that there was a local market on the beach, but they were too tired to go. I went to the market, it was a cool little market with a lot of different things, in one of the shops there was a man making flowers out of wood, they were really pretty. It was so cool most of the things on the market was handmade by locals. I got an American Hotdog for dinner, it was made with onions in the bottom a nice cheese sausage with bbq and homemade ketchup on top, simple, but delicious.

When i got home the next day they were getting ready for a party with some people from the university, they were really nice, but again girls! The room was a mess, things everywhere, i could barely find the floor. they told me my previous roomie a spanish girl came by earlier to take a shower, because she had been to the hospital and barely could walk, So i went to see the spanish girl while the Norwegian girls got dressed for their Party.
She was in bed with her feet up, she told me that the hospital told her that it was not just big angles from flying, but that she had been stung by an insect and have got an allergic reaction. She had a needle in her arm with antibiotics, she told me the nurse missed three times, but the fourth time she finally got it right. She was in pain in her leg, so me and one of her roomies an indian girl tried to find some pain relief pills, luckily there were a lot of people to ask in the hostel and it would be weird if no-one had anything, we got some paracetamol pills from one of the neighbours. I went back into my room half an hour later, guess what? the Norwegian girls were not ready i waited for another 15 minutes and then i could finally have a shower :). after my shower i went downstairs and got dinner with the spanish girl, her indian roomie and a Japanese guy they have meet, he was really nice he was the one to drive her to the hospital aswell. It was really fun i got a simple heat-up lasagne and they had some indian rice and spicy chiken, even tho i had my own dinner, they insisted that i should try it, it was really good. The indian girl had made the chicken with her own spices brought from india, so i got real indian food in australia, which was kind of funny :).
i have also had three canadian girls staying for one night so i diden't talk much to them since i got home late and left early.
Now i have three Norwegian guys, which also is studying biology on the James cook university. So we also have some things in common :)

It is also going great in zoo, yesterday i got to hold and cuttle Tim's younger brother another small pademelon. He don't have a name yet, but i suggested Tam, because there is a well known biscuit in Australia called, Tim tams :). It is considered, but so far he is nameless.
I had planned to go on a waterfall tour in my weekend (Tuesday, Wednesday), but unfortunately the man who runs the tour's got flooded. So all of his gear and his bus is all flooded, so i will first be able to go for my waterfall tour the second of march. So far i don't know what i am going to do in my weekend. I might go to the cinema today with the indian girl, the Japanese guy and a new girl we meet from Swisserland.
Tomorrow i think i will try and see if i can take the bus or a taxi to a rock climbing club 6 km from here to do some climbing for a few hours.
My roomies left the room like this :O

Castle Hill And Jazzine Barracks

Today i choose to sleep to 08:30am have breakfast and stay in the hostel chilling and follow up on my blog. At 11:00 am i went up to Castle Hill a mountain in the middle of the city not far from the hostel where i am staying. It is about 2.5 km up hill walk, at the top i had a drink from a tap, from the water reservoir. It was a stunning view i could see all of Townsville 360 degrees. What a good walk! on the way down i headed towards the beach where i met a lady i spoke to yesterday when i was trying to find some dinner, the map showed that it was suppose to be a fish'n chips resturant. but it was an dessert resturant, so i headed on. She recognised me and asked me if i was still looking for something to eat, i was, but this time for lunch. She recommended a Kiosk called Tobruk Kiosk, just around the corner of the Toburk pool, she told me they had good grilled sandwiches so i ordered a grilled chicken and cheese sandwich, it was great :). I followed the beach for about half an hour to the Jazzine Barracks. It was a nice lookout over the ocean aswell, with some good stories from the war. where old cannon spots have been standing now was a memorial place of the fallen soldiers.
I got into an art garden part of the beach were i spotted different artworks, they looked funny.
On my way back i saw a waterfall in the middle of the beach promenade, wow it was amazing to see such a big water fall just out of know where. On my way home i got a 3 scoops cone at the dessert resturant and man it was some good icecream on that walk. i was back at the hostel at around 16:00.
now i am considering wheather i should go out or i should cook myself for dinner? i dont know yet!
Enjoy pictures from my walk!

My day trip to Magnetic Island

I got up at 06:00am to get the ferry at 07:00am. I grabed my cerial and milk and went to the kitchen, unfortunately the kitchen was not opened at 06:00am as it should be. So i taught i could grab a quick slice of bread in my room. BUT NO!!! my junkie roomie had stolen my bread, cheese and worst of all MY peanutbutter :(. I went to the ferry without having any breakfast, what a start.
I bordered the ferry at 07:00am. When i arrived at the island there was a local coffee stand around the corner, it was pretty cool all the locals had a cup of coffee before they had to take the ferry and go to work. As i was about to take the bus all the school kids came out of the bus and went onto the ferry.
We had a good but wild busdriver, it dosent matter the lane is only wide enough for the bus to go straight so in the corners we just took half of the other lane :O, Luckely nothing happened and i was really happy that i did not rent a bycycle. They had a sign in the side of the road that showed forrest fire danger level, and it was in the middle, so all okay. I arrived at the forts walk at 7:50 and started my walk towards the forts. I really hoped to spot a koala, but i did to my disappointment not spot any koalas. But i saw a rockwallaby, a small snake and a quick glimt of a larger lizard before it went under the rocks. The forts ruins were pretty impressive with a wide view over all of the island from 2 main towers, which is still standing today, a control tower and a guard tower to look out for the enemys.
I was back at the road at 09:20am, i waited for the bus and went to a smal city with a few resturants.
I got breakfast at the bekini tree, where i got 2 eggs with a slice of bread and a lot of beacon. Just what i needed. Then i was ready to go, i went to the rockwallabys arear down by the bay, but it was way too hot there was no wallabys,  however i did spot a hawk and a single rock wallaby up in the shade on the way back. I walked along the beach and spoke to the guy in the local dive shop to see if there were any snorkeling tours available. He said that everything was closed due to the bad weather, that was too bad :(. Then i walked 2 km along the road on a nice sidewalk to the bigger part of town where i went to get lunch at a cafe. I got a big fish burger with fries and a Coke :). It was lovely to enjoy a meal with a good view of the forrest and the bay. At 12:30 i went to do some survenir shopping, there was a local handmade store/secondhand. So it was half secondhand store and the other half was handmade jewellery, signs, masks and more. It was a lovely store, i bought a few things and carried on. I took the but up to the north shore with the biggest bay/strand on the island and there was almost nobody. There were a few having a beer at the bar else not really and i figured out why! the strand was closed due to Jelly fish coming in :O. I walked at the sidewalk for 500 meters down to a hotel with aircondition while i waited for the bus. I took the bus back to the same spot i started in the morning, except i walked the other path on the other side of the road. there were two ways to go, a long way 3.5km to the ferry and a short way 1.6 to the city. It was only 14:30 so i decided to take the long walk up hill. I spotted another rock wallaby along the way, but unfortunately no koalas. When i was half way in i met another sign saying 3 km ohhh... it was a bit tiring because of the sun 35 degrees in the shade Puhh.. it was how i ended up walking just in shorts :). A good but looooooong walk. i got back to the city with the ferryport at 16:45, i knew the ferry left at 17:05 and there wasen't really much left to do besides another walking trail but my feet were sour after about 15 km of walking and still 5 to go, so i decided to go for the ferry, I MADE IT! When i got back to townsville i went out to get something to eat, the first place i went said on the map it should be a fish' n chips place, but it was only icecream and wafels. I carryed on, i found a nice place close to the arcade called "The Country Garden" it was a really cool place, with some nice bartenders and i got a nice big bowl of Pulledpork fries, Hmm.. Delicious, my best meal so far :). then i went to the super market to get some bread since my roommate took my other bread, unfortunately the store was out of bread :( i guess i will just buy it later.
I unlucked the door to my room at 19:00 with 20+km in my legs and feet i was really tired.

A good day and a Wierd new roomie

It is finally Great weather full sun and i got up to this amazing view over the city.
I went to work on saturday our first opening day after the flood. In the evening i went out to explore the city and find something to eat. I walked through this side which seemed kind of empty at the moment, then i got to the bridge down by the bay and went over to the other side. It started to get dark and i found a nice local grill, it was stuffed out, first time i have seen so many people in one place in Townsville just by going over a bridge. But it was saturday so people were dressed up out eating and having a good time it was great, i got a Townsville burger and fries with a chili mayo :) Hmm.... that was cool. On my way back i got some pretty good pictures from the bridge.
Good day, i went to work the next day and i have got 3 new roomies when i got home. A couple, they were fine dident really bother being in the room they just werent there really. but then i got another roomie a Wierd guy he said he came from england and have been traveling around in australia for 2 years. But thats not wierd, he told me about he had a really good time on tasmania where he meet a girl and meade her pregnant, i thaught to myself, What the F***, why are you telling me this. but okay. Later he asked to borrow a water bottle and that was okay i had 3 so he could have one, i thaught he wanted it for drinking. NOT!! he went straight out to the toilet made a hole in it and made a WATERBONG??? Freaking junkie, the next day when i got home from work it just smelled like shit he had been laying in his bed all day smoking and rolling joints!!! :O WHAT? there were toothpaste all over the bathroom! on the toilet seat in the shower on the sink? really Stoned guy. luckily he was gone the day after when i came home from work, the couple aswell. So that was nice. i later found out that i coulden't brush my teeth because he had stolen my toothpaste! from my toiletry bag.??? wtf man. but thats not the only thing when i got up in the morning to go to magnetic island my breakfast was gone!
To my luck i have not found anything else missing, just food and toothpaste.
After all enjoy some good pictures of my Saturday.

Woke up to this sight :)

On my way to grab dinner.

My first week at the zoo

The past couple of days i really got into, how things work in the park. I was on the koala team one day, and i did the background a couple of times aswell, some of the emus were chilling out in the sun :). I helped one of the rangers giving a bottle of milk to the young pademelon Tim, that was great. He came running into the rangers arms that have taken care of him for 5 months in her own home.
I also got to feed the Laughter bird, which was kind of funny too because he is so lazy, so i had to really aim for his mouth and throw it into his mouth. We finished with all the raking in the park this week and we are back to normal. One day i skipped lunch because one of the rangers asked me to come help being the gate boy :) Uhhh... excited. I had to stay in the door and make sure nobody came in while the rangers were feeding the biggest croc in the park 4.5 meters long named Bully :O. It was great and we got some really good jaw slams aswell, some times when the crocs are that big they can slam their jaws so powerfull that it sounds as loud as the sound of a gun shot!!! Later on the show when we went down to the smaller freshwater crocodiles the rangers asked me if i would like to try. Uhh really exciting, so ray (one of the rangers) took the gate guard and i tried to feed one of the freshwater crocodiles, it was AMAZING a pice of chicken on a stick and then make them jump and catch it after a couple of jumps. One of the german volunteers stoped in the park on sunday and a new local vetenary girl started, she is in the park for 10 days as a part of her education. It is great finally the german small talks in the kitchen have stoped and we are all speaking ENGLISH :).
Enjoy some Pictures.
