10am I took
the bus to Donohue’s to go shopping, I got a real Australian made hat. I was
about to take the bus back, but I had no cash left, since I got rid of them
before I am going home. I asked the stupid tourist question; do you take card… No,
we don’t, so I found 1$ 40cents in me wallet, but the ticket was 3 dollars, The
guy behind me asked if I was going to the city, yes I was, he asked the bus
driver how much for 2 got replied 6$ so he passed me 6$ and we both got on the
bus J. Now
I was the really thankful and again it was just 3$ to save my day. I got a Takeaway
wrap and hat it on the edge of the water, hmm... delicious! I got my suitcase
packed with the most of my stuff. I borrowed a scale at the hostel and my
suitcase was 22,5kg and I am allowed 23 kg on the plane J. 04:15pm I went to sailing again.
This time on another boat, some really nice people, after the sailing we got a smaller
dinner on the boat, Chicken wings, cheese and biscuits, with a beer, it doesn’t
get any better than that. Afterwards I helped packoing up the boat, the guy who
owned the boat had made a lot of extra homemade covers for the boat, so he
could keep the windows open without getting rain in. A really good day again.

I Got Wrecked at SS Yongola
I had to
get up at 05am to walk to the bus 20 minutes prior to departure. I boarded the
bus at 06:10am. In the bus a guy from the other end of the bus came up to me, I
guess because I was the only one else awake. He asked if he could borrow my
phone to confirm a booking for his future trip, sure why not, so he borrowed it
and he was really thankful.
I arrived at
Ayr a city where I had to get off the big bus and get picked up by the dive
shuttlebus. You just know it is going to be a good day when the driver starts,
by playing Red hot chili peppers at 7:30am and shifting gear to the music,
ahahah, it was hilarious. Just a really good vibe and good information on the
way out to the dive base.
We got
there around 08am and started doing the paperwork and finding gear. Then we had
some time to say hi to the others we were going out with, we were 11 in total, a
couple from Australia, a couple from Spain, a couple from Germany, a guy from
the states, a Japanese girl, a German girl, an English guy and me. 9:30 we got
in the back of a car with benches, like in the military. The first guy hit his
head on the way in and I hit my back on my way in, awch… We got to the beach,
just another 10 minutes of waiting for the staff to get the boat in the water with
an old International and we were good to Sail. A good vibe and really nice
people all the way out. On the first dive my gopro died again… I found out that
the pressure hits the off bottom in so that the camera turns off, so that is
too bad, but it is alright because I saw it all. I Saw my first big ray, yaaaaay!!!
And a large napoleon fish. On my second dive we got a really good view of the 110-meter-long
wreck and it is as they say the fish at the wreck are so used to divers that
they are not afraid of them, so you better watch out or you will get so close
you think you are about to hit them. Back on the boat we saw a Loggerhead
turtle in the surface, amazing!!!
When we were
back in the tide was a bit lower, so we got dropped off the front of the boat
into knee/hip deep water while the boat was reversing, we had to walk about 200
meters through the swells and knee-deep water. Back on the strand we got picked
up by the car again.
We got back
to the base and all got a chance to shower and change while the crew made us late
Lunch, Yummy, we got build yourself burgers one with beef and one with sausage.
I got arranged a lift with the Australian couple, they came from Cains and were
planning on staying a night in Townsville, so I saved the dorm room and the bus
ticket home, yaa. What a day I got a lot of good friends, we left the dive base
around 04:30pm and I was back in Townsville around 06pm, right at the door. The
rest of the day I just chilled and packed out and talked with a new roommate from
England.

Why I don’t do the laundry
I did my laundry
and got in the kitchen and made breakfast. While having breakfast I met a really
cool guy from London who is about the same age as myself, as I finished my
breakfast he asked if I knew a good place to go out for breakfast for sure, we
had such a long conversation that I almost forgot my laundry, So james went out
to get brunch and I hung up my lundry. Around midday, I went out to another big
shopping center to see if I could find some survenirs or something funny to
purchase. It was a big center with a lot of different things, I got a really
good pesto sandwich for lunch and found some cool survenirs. I got to see the
whole city because the bus had to go to the bus stops all the way around castle
hill, so 15 minutes bustur ended up being 40 minutes, but I wasen’t in a rush
and it didn’t cost extra.
When I got
back there were still about an hour and a half to sailing so I walked down to
the beach to met up with Jarla and Nele, but I met them on the way and we ended
up in the public kids waterpark and a short visit to the library.
I went
straight to sailing, I was all ready for unhinched and I was signed up and all
good, but unhinched got overbooked and I ended up on another boat with another
young bloke who has just moved to Townsville to study engineering. He had
sailing experience and it happened to be a really cool boat. They were all pensionists,
so no hurry and most of them had over 30 years of sailing experience from all
over the world so I learner a couple of things too.. We got champagne and a
really nice sunset on the way out and the castalations on a clear sky on the
way back.
The old
couple we were sailing with asked me and the other guy if we would like to come
visiting them some day to see their farm and all their animals, yea sure we
were so ready and they only live 5 minutes down the road from billabong, I plan
to try and visit them at least once before I go back home After sailing the older
couple got our contact info, since we didn’t bring our phones, in case we would
get wet. I walked with the other guy to his car where his phone was, so he got
my number and we are in touch now. (I can say now because I write a bit late
that I don’t think im gonna make it because they haven’t called me. but they
were really sweet and welcoming.) it is too bad that I met them so late, but it’s
a part of the journey.
I got back
to the hostel at 09:15pm where I met Alisson, which now is a nightmaneger, Kenzo
and Carolina was there aswell to keep her company behind the desk. We had a
good chat, teasing each other. On the way to my room I noticed some laundry hanging
and it looked like mine, IT WAS MINE!!! F*K so I got It all down and carried it
up to my room to realize that my underwear wasn’t fully dry, so I made a quick
solution and hung them up in the bed. I was so tired, I talked a little with
Nele and went straight to bed. 10pm godnight.
Thursday Kim
was back, we had a veterinary and his assistent to come see and do a health
check to the animals at the park, they checked one crocodile with a bad tail,
we saw Kim and Dave catch it and the veterinary looked at it.
